Capacity

It is indicated in ampere-hours (Ah • h, Ah) and, in simple terms, shows how long the battery is able to withstand the rated load. In other words, the larger the capacity, the more attempts the driver will have to start the engine in cold weather.

Starting current

Indicated in amperes (A), it means the maximum load that can be connected to the battery for a period of 10 to 30 seconds without negative effects. The more powerful the car, the more powerful the battery is needed, and this indicator is especially important for diesel engines.

Standard size

Although car batteries look the same visually, they can differ in size, shape and location of the terminals, even within the same capacity rating. Before buying, it is better to clarify the necessary parameters in the car manual or measure the battery with a tape measurement, and also to pay attention to the polarity (which side is the positive terminal).

Serviceability

There are several types of car batteries. If batteries use ordinary electrolytes in the form of water-diluted sulfuric acid, their condition must be monitored - check the density and amount of liquid inside. These batteries are usually cheaper. Nowadays, maintenance-free batteries are becoming more widespread, in which electrolytes almost do not boil away due to many technologies - glass cloth mats between the plates ("gel" or AGM) are impregnated with it. Such batteries can be more expensive, but they also last much longer.
